Test Conditions:Unless otherwise is described, all samples shall be rested for 24 hours before the test at 23ºC±1ºC temperature and 50%±4% humidity.
Reflective Values:They shall be used for quality control of a standard button. White, yellow, green, blue or red buttons shall have the reflective values stated in Table 1 and Table 2 when scaled according to ASTM S809. Reflective lighting value (R1) is expressed as milicandela/lux. One candela/lux is equal to 10.76 candela/footcandela (American unit of measurement).

Reflectivity Performance :
This is the lighting of a button under standard road and vehicle conditions. This feature is generally referred to as "The Driver's Geometry of Reflectivity". During the measurements obtained through conducting a simulation, all geometrical angles including the rotation angle shall be considered for the evaluation of prismatic reflective lenses. When the buttons are scaled according to ASTM E809, the startup reflectivity values shall be in accordance with table 2 and table 3.
Table 3 indicates the input angles, rotation angles and the observation geometry which belongs to a button placed on the lane on the left side of a vehicle for a driver in a standard vehicle. Each value measured is the total of the reflection of light from the left and right headlight. Test mechanism and geometry are shown on Figure 1.

Resistance Against Wearing:The button's reflective lighting values are measured when the entire lens area is exposed to 1600 gr. dropping "silica carbide" according to ASTM D968. Minimum reflectivity values shall be in accordance with table 1, 2 and 3.
Heat Resistance :The button shall be exposed to 145 °F ± 5°F (62.7 °C±2.5 °C) temperature for 12 hours, and then maintain the values in table 1, 2 and 3.
Impact Resistance : The button's body shall not indicate any cracks or breaks according to ASTM D2444 Type A, when 1000 gm weight is dropped from 1 meter height.
Water Resistance : After the button is held at 145 °F ± 5 °F (62.7 °C ± 2.5 °C) for 10 minutes, it shall be soaked in water at 70 °F ± 5 °F (21 °C ± 2.5 °C) temperature for 10 minutes. Then, the button shall be removed from water, and dried with a soft cloth, backsides of lenses shall be checked for any potential water leakage, and the reflectivity shall be measured according to ASTM E809. The values obtained shall be in accordance with table 1.2 and 3.
